The Challenger Division was established in 1989 as a separate division of Little League to enable boys and girls with physical and mental challenges, ages 4-18 to enjoy the game of baseball along with the millions of other children who participate in this sport worldwide. Today, more than 30,000 children participate in more than 900 Challenger Divisions worldwide. Currently, Pleasanton has two Challenger teams. Each spring, a team of boys and girls get together and play games at the Dublin Sports Park with other local Challenger teams from the east bay area to make it an afternoon they won't forget. The season is typically from late March and finishing up with the Annual Challenger Jamboree over Memorial Day weekend.
Little League's Challenger Program is expanding for the 2015 season. The Challenger Program gives leagues an opportunity to service individuals with intellectual and physical challenges. Beginning with the 2015 season, leagues may now charter a Senior League Challenger Division for players ages 15 and above (no maximum age) in addition to the Little League Challenger Division, which is available to players age 4-18. Individuals ages 15-18 have the option to participate either the Little League or Senior League Challenger Division. More information about the Senior League Challenger Division can be found at
We also have a buddy program set up for Major teams to come and be a buddy with each Challenger team member. Assisting with batting, base running, fielding and the biggest skill - ENCOURAGEMENT for our Challenger team.
